TRA VINH NATURAL CONDITION
1.Geographical location

Tra Vinh is a coastal province located in the Southeast of the Mekong Delta, with a location stretching from 9031'46'' to 10004'5'' North latitude, 105057'16'' to 106036'04'' East longitude.

Tra Vinh borders to the North with Ben Tre province and is separated by Co Chien River (a branch of the Tien River), to the South it borders Soc Trang province through the Hau river boundary, to the West it borders Vinh Long province, to the East it borders East Sea.

Tra Vinh province has a total natural area of 2,390.8 km22 (according to Tra Vinh Province Statistical Yearbook 2022), accounting for 5.77% of the area of the Mekong Delta region, with 09 affiliated administrative units, including: Tra Vinh City, Duyen Hai Town and 7 districts: Cang Long, Chau Thanh, Cau Ke, Tieu Can, Cau Ngang, Tra Cu, Duyen Hai; There are 106 administrative units at commune, ward and town levels.

The specific conditions of the province's geographical location are shown in the following aspects:

The first, Tra Vinh is located between two large rivers, the North borders the Tien River, the South borders the Hau River and is located downstream, where 2 large rivers flow into the sea with 3 gates: Co Chien and Cung Hau (Chau Thanh district). ) and Dinh An (Tra Cu district). The East borders the sea with a length of 65 km, in Duyen Hai town and Duyen Hai district. The two rivers Co Chien and Hau river along with the large tonnage ship channel into the Hau river will play the role of three important waterways of the Mekong Delta region in trading to the East Sea, connecting with the whole country and internationally.

With this geographical location, Tra Vinh: (i) Has advantages in water transportation, linking with provinces in the region through the inland waterway transportation system; (ii) Develop seaports and become a gateway connecting many provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; (iii) Opportunity to have enough conditions to develop the marine economy.

The second, Tra Vinh province is 90 km from Can Tho City and about 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City if traveling by National Highway (NH)53. The distance between Tra Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City is only 130 km if traveling by Highway 60. The upgrading and development of routes QL53, QL54 (connecting with Ho Chi Minh City through route QL1, Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho expressway), route QL60, and the Eastern coastal corridor have, is and will create conditions to connect Tra Vinh with other provinces inside and outside the region, implementing a development plan based on advantages thanks to linkages.

The administrative boundaries of Tra Vinh are divided into 9 units including Tra Vinh city, Duyen Hai town and 8 districts (Cang Long, Cau Ke, Tieu Can, Tra Cu, Cau Ngang, Duyen Hai and Chau Thanh). Tra Vinh is a community of three main ethnic groups are Kinh, Khmer, Hoa and a few other ethnic groups.
- Weather – Climate: locating in tropical area, climate is cool with average temperature of 26 – 270C and average humidity of 83-85%/year; average rainfall: 1.500mm. The province is rarely affected by storm and flood, so it is very favorable for production-business.
 
2. Natural resource
 
- Land area: 234.115 hectares, of which agricultural land: 185.868 hectares, forestry land: 6.745 hectares, specially used land: 12.880 hectare, rural land: 3.845 hectares, urban land: 566 hectares, unused land: 900 hectares, of which arenosol makes up 6.62%.
 
+ Forestry area: 6.745 hectares, along coast at Duyen Hai, Cau Ngang and Tra Cu district with trees like apple mangrove tree, mangrove, mangrove palm, date palm… warp area: 1.138 hectares.
 
+ Fishery farming area: 51.600 hectares( shrimp farming area: 29.000 hectares)

Main minrals are sand for industry and construction, including:

+ River sand: exploiting 60.000m3/year
 
+ Clay: Institute of Geoscience and Natuaral Resource proves that it meets construction requirement and can be used in construction material process industry. Natural source: 45.6 million m3.
 
+ Mineral water mine: meet national standard for mineral water with temperature of 38.50C; exploiting about 2.400m3/day at Long Toan commune, Duyen Hai district.
